"So Random" Live Taping - June 7th

So Random

On Tuesday, June 7th, my Dad and I went to see So Random taping live, it was awesome! So Random is a sketch comedy show which involves both comedy and music. The show began as a part of Sonny with a Chance with Demi Lovato and is about kids that have their own sketch comedy show sort of like SNL (Saturday Night Live). The cast includes Nico Harris (Brandon Mychal Smith), Tawni Hart (Tiffany Thorton), Zora Lancaster (Allisyn Ashley Arm), Chad Dylan Cooper (Sterling Night), Grady Mitchell (Doug Brochu) plus new recurring cast members Damien Haas, Audrey Whitby, Matthew Scott Montgomery and Shayne Topp.

So Random Cast Autographs We got to the studio in Hollywood a little late and we weren't sure if we would be able to make it inside. We waited outside for about an hour and luckily there was enough space to squeeze us in. We got through the gates and they sat us down and gave us our So Random laminates.

When we got in and took our seats I was at the very front table. They had shiny red tables, and wooden IKEA chairs (I have one just like them except mine is pink!). The hosts came out and told us what we needed to do. They told us about the microphones on the side of the stage and how and when we needed to laugh, and then they started the show and handed out So Random water bottles. They started the show off with an episode about two kids in gym class that acted like they were anime characters who were on opposing teams for dodge ball. They shot the skit about 6 times with little changes each time based on the audiences reactions.

Next was a skit where it's supposed to be Tiffany's birthday and Chad is supposed to be her Boyfriend. He's supposed to sing a song about her, but it ends up being a song about how great their English teacher is. He gets her a cake but on the cake it says "Ms. Lancore Rocks."

They showed us previews of other skits that would air in upcoming episodes. One skit was of kids rapping, but M.C Grammar comes (Nico) and gives them a rap grammar check dressed like M.C Hammer. They also showed us a preview where at a high school, sagging (your pants) was cool. People were making fun of one guy that was sagging saying he didn't sag enough. A couple of other guys came and got in arguments about who sags more. At the end, the guy realizes that sagging is NOT cool!

The musical guest was Christina Grimmie and I thought she did really well. She is going to be opening for Selena Gomez on her tour and she sang her first single "Advice". You can hear the song on Radio Disney, and it will be on her new album "Find Me" which you can download on iTunes on June 14th. They moved us so that other people could dance near the stage area but the good thing was that I ended up sitting right in front of where the stars sat during the musical act so I got to talk to them for a while. I talked to Sterling Night and Tiffany Thorton and we talked about their nicknames. Tiffany's nickname is Tiffers, and Sterling's is Stir Fry.

At the end, the cast was signing autographs. I got lucky because the line to get Sterling and Tiffany's autograph was the longest but I got both of theirs while I was sitting in front of them.
