Variety honors Bieber at Power of Youth

Justin Bieber will be honored at Variety's fourth Power of Youth event, Oct. 24 on Paramount's backlot, for his commitment to Pencils of Promise. Pencils for Promise is an organization that works with local communities to build schools and increase educational opportunities around the world.

Justin's the first of the year's five honorees to be named. Past POY honorees include Keke Palmer, Jesse McCartney, AnnaLynne McCord, Corbin Bleu and Miranda Cosgrove.

Variety's Power of Youth reaches out to the 25-and-under entertainment community, encouraging them to support philanthropic and charitable causes, and getting them to use their positions to encourage fans to do the same.

HarperCollins this week announced the October release of his book "Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story."

Justin broke the news on Twitter Monday that Paramount will make a 3D concert and biopic based on his career. Justin's manager Scooter Braun, singer Usher and Island Def Jam Music Group chairman LA Regid will produce alongside the singer, who is also launching his own production company.
